After the generation change, the NX crossover has changed in appearance, received new motors and two hybrid versions at once.

Lexus has unveiled the second-generation NX crossover. Global sales of new items will start in November-December this year.

The appearance of the crossover has undergone major changes compared to the first generation. Moreover, the Japanese themselves claim that up to 95% of the parts in the car were developed from scratch. In addition, the 2021 Lexus NX has increased in size compared to its predecessor.

The car also received an LED strip across the entire width of the tailgate, visually combining the rear L-shaped lights, and a spoiler on the roof edge with an integrated additional brake light. The crossover is equipped with wheels with a diameter of up to 20-inches and a modified corporate emblem with the full name of the brand.

The interior of the Lexus NX is designed in accordance with the philosophy called Tazuna. The car is equipped with a new steering wheel with touch switches, head-up display, digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen multimedia system. The driver can choose from atmospheric lighting with a choice of 64 colors, wireless smartphone charging and a more compact gear selector.

Some of the Lexus NX functions (for example, turning on the air conditioner before driving) can be controlled remotely using a mobile app. The novelty also received a proprietary complex of active safety systems Lexus Safety System +. Safety systems include collision avoidance, lane keeping, traffic sign recognition and blind spot monitoring.

The novelty is built on the GA-K platform – one of the modifications of the scalable TNGA architecture. This base provides a stronger structure, a lower center of gravity, and improved handling and noise isolation. The same architecture, for example, is used by the new Toyota Highlander, which was introduced last year.

The range of engines of the new NX includes a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine with 279 horsepower. The unit works in conjunction with an eight-speed gearbox and a permanent all-wheel drive system. Also, customers will be offered a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine with 199 horsepower (as on the Lexus ES and Toyota Camry). It is with these two motors that the second generation crossover will be offered in Russia.

Also, the car received two hybrid versions at once. The NX 450h + version with the ability to charge the battery from the mains is equipped with a 2.5-liter internal combustion engine and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 18 kW * h. Installation power – 306 horsepower. The hybrid crossover can accelerate to hundreds in just over 6 seconds. In electric mode, the car is capable of traveling 63 kilometers.

The NX 350h is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The power of the hybrid power plant in this modification is 244 horsepower. The NX 350h accelerates to 100 km / h in about 7.7 seconds.

In Russia, the current Lexus NX is available with a two-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 150 hp, as well as with a turbocharged unit of the same volume, producing 238 horsepower. In addition, the crossover has a 197-horsepower version with a hybrid setup, in which the 2.5-liter unit is powered by two electric motors.
