At the end of September twentieth the Bavarians presented a new generation of “charged” sedan BMW M3 G80, which debuted simultaneously with the two-door M4 G82.
Under the hood of the new 2021 BMW M3 is a 3.0-liter inline-six with dual supercharging, which by default produces 479 hp. (500 Nm), mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. From zero to hundred, the rear-wheel drive four-door accelerates in 4.2 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h (with the M Driver’s package at 290 km / h).
On a more powerful modification of the BMW M3 Competition, the engine is boosted to 510 “horses” and 650 Nm of torque, while it is exclusively equipped with an 8-band automatic (it is 22.7 kg heavier than a manual box), as well as an all-wheel drive transmission M xDrive with an active M differential on the rear axle.
This option shoots from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds, but the top speed is the same here. The brakes are responsible for stopping with six-piston calipers in front and discs with a diameter of 380 mm and single-piston (370 mm) on the rear axle. For a surcharge, carbon-ceramic movements are offered with gold-painted calipers and brake discs increased to 400 mm and 380 mm at the front and rear, respectively.
The all-wheel drive system on the BMW M3 Competence 2021 in a new body has three operating modes. The basic 4WD setting transmits traction to all wheels, the 4WD Sport variant transfers most of the moment to the rear axle, while the front is connected as needed. Finally, you can choose 2WD, left in rear-wheel drive alone with the car, without any electronic assistants.
Outside, the new 2021 BMW M3 model received exactly the same front end as the “em-four” with fashionable diode head optics and huge “nostrils” of the radiator grill, which are the most sporty detail of the car’s exterior. Perhaps, over time, it will be possible to get used to them, perhaps someone even likes such a decision, but now we can definitely say that many people did not like this element – and this is putting it mildly.
Also, the sport sedan sports an aggressive front bumper with narrow vertical ventilation slots on the sides and wide air intakes closer to the center, plus the embossed hood, air ducts in the front fenders, a spoiler at the rear, a diffuser in the rear bumper with a quartet of round exhaust pipes, branded “Emotic” mirrors and a carbon fiber roof.
For the BMW M3 G80, two new shades of color are proposed: Green “Man Green” and bright yellow “Sao Paolo Yellow” front and back, respectively. For a surcharge, you can order the M Carbon exterior package with carbon fiber splitter, side skirts, spoiler, diffuser and side mirror housings.
The interior of the model is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital dashboard with special graphics and a 10.3-inch screen for a multimedia system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud maps BMW Maps, as well as a timer for measuring lap times on the race track and a special “ M Drift Analyzer “for those who like to grab it sideways. The difference between the interior and the usual “treshka” is a sports steering wheel, special seats and trim with aluminum inserts (carbon fiber can be ordered).
On the steering wheel there are branded buttons “M1” and “M2”, which can be programmed for quick access to custom settings of the driving electronics, the seats covered with Merino leather for the first time for this model acquired ventilation, and for an additional charge they can be exchanged for carbon buckets, which are 9, 5 kg lighter than usual and additionally stand out with dense side bolsters and illuminated emblems on the headrests.
It is known that sales of the new BMW M3 G80 in the States will begin in March 2021 at a price of $ 69,900, while the M3 Competition will cost at least $ 72,800 overseas.
