The British have presented a unique Rolls-Royce Boat Tail convertible, which can be named the most expensive car in the world.

Rolls-Royce has announced the creation of a new Coachbuild division dedicated to the development of exclusive vehicles with unique bodies. The first project was the Boat Tail convertible, which was released in only three copies.

The name of the new item refers to the rare British brand cars developed in the 1920s and 1930s. For example, one customer has a remanufactured original Rolls-Royce Boat Tail from 1932 in his collection. In addition, the nautical theme can be seen in the special rear of the 5.9-meter convertible, made in the style of modern high-speed yachts.

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, which took four years to develop, is built on the Architecture of Luxury platform that powers the new Phantom. The cabriolet is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, the output of which is not named. For example, on a standard Phantom sedan, the unit develops 571 hp. and 850 Nm of torque.

At the same time, almost 2 thousand unique parts and components were used in the design of the convertible. For example, all of the body panels were handcrafted, polished and painted.

In the rear of the car, flaps separated by natural wood were installed, under which there are compartments with various picnic accessories and a refrigerator. The structure can be folded out to form cocktail tables and sun canopy. The set includes small folding chairs with a frame of composite materials and leather trim to match the interior.

The first Rolls-Royce Boat Tail was ordered by a married couple who “have achieved global success and are true experts in Rolls-Royce.” Especially for them, the Swiss watch house Bovet has developed a unique watch with dials on both sides of the case. Chronographs can be worn on the wrist or installed in the car.

The cost of Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is not disclosed. The British edition Autocar, citing its own source, reports that the project could cost customers £ 20 million ($28.3 million). Thus, Boat Tail can get the title of the most expensive car in the world. At the moment, this is considered the Bugatti La Voiture Noire hypercar, released in a single copy. The cost of a coupe with a 1500-horsepower engine and a unique body is estimated at about $20 million.
